Re: Clamps and vises thread

Pipe clamp i've seen at Vic Steel Industrial Sales in Aurora Blvd near anonas.

Brand: Truper (Made in taiwan)
Pipe size: 3/4"

For only P395.00. half the price of pony pipe clamp.

What can you say about this?

there had been several members that has come across and seen use of those. I remember they weren't happy with those compared to the ponies. just the same, kindly post your feedback regarding them.
also, please reduce the picture size to 480x640pixels.
thank you.

Will probably get a pair and try out. I always glue with epoxy where clamping pressure is not that great.

Re: Clamps and vises thread

i have 3 pcs of those truper pipe clamps, i bought it at dau angeles at 500 php a pc.

i thought i bought a good clamp ( no ideas on what a good pipe clamp is that day )

when i have the pony clamps, i seldom used it.

maybe you can use it as a re-inforcement for the pony clamps (which i do, when i run out of pipe

clamps ) better yet forget the truper.

better go for the pony brands, you wont regret buying the pony...:p

Better yet, open the package and check for alignments first before pulling your wallet.

+100 Pony is the way to go .... if these are still US Made. That's the first thing I would check if I was to get Pony. Some of their vises and clamps are now PRC if I am not mistaken. Maybe 750 pesos or less each?

Re: Clamps and vises thread

How about F clamps? I have a lot of those cheapo yellow and red ones. They won't last long but, for epoxy clamping, does the job. Out of about a dozen various sizes, the handle in one already came off.

I got 6 of the 10-inch Torq They clamp great but really heavy. I usually clamp two pieces of wood that repel each other so, if I had 4 hands, should be easy to use those heavy Torqs. But since I'm no mutant, I'd have cramps before I finish clamping.

Oh, and I find those plastic quick clamps practically useless.

Thoughts?

Re: Clamps and vises thread

How about some Irwin Quick Grip clamps? These are quite durable and can be used initially to clamp repelling pieces together then replaced with more heavy duty clamps one after the other. More often than not these clamps help me get away working alone on such tasks and others as well.

Re: Clamps and vises thread

I always wondered if this configuration will ever have a use.

Re: Clamps and vises thread

He-he. That last config is creative but...

Sayang. Saw lots of those Irwin quick grips at Reclamation street. Didn't pick any up because of my bad experience with the quick grips sold at DIY.

I have a pair of these and if used as is with no modifications forget about it. The way it is made to grip the pipe does not work effectively. I had to drill a hole the size of the diameter of the pipe to make it grip the pipe more.

Re: Clamps and vises thread

Flip the other part again and perhaps you could use that as a spreader? Instead of assembling, use it to dis-assemble M&T joints?

The wilton vise... having disassembled it and seen how it works, is amazingly strong when clamping. Simple and failproof way of distributing the load of the screw into the whole body. But as a spreader, it all depends on a teeny weeny 3/16" steel pin!

Re: Clamps and vises thread

Since the other jaw is removable you can place it on any of the ends and in any orientation.I guess the manufacturer just meant it to be used as a spreader or a clamp mainly.

Naguluhan na rin ako .... LOL.
