Re: Clamps and vises thread

I'm not sure if its exactly the same, but I also saw Irwin. It's along Rosario, across Golden Fortune resto.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Re: Clamps and vises thread

Saw those Irwins, too at Handyman. They look well built and good clamping force.

I don't mean to dampen the Irwin's attractiveness but thought it may be useful to mention the Wolfcraft quick clamp's weight compared to the Irwin. I find the Wolfcraft much lighter than the Irwin. Weight is a big factor for me in quickgrips. I usualy find myself in a situation where I am bending a length of wood into obedience and, when it submits, quickly clamp it down with my free hand. With heavy clamps, that would be tough to do.

Unfortunately, I haven't found those Wolfcraft clamps locally. When bought in Singapore, they cost about the same as the Irwins (same size).

Take my comment wih a grain of salt, though. I haven't tried using the Irwins yet so have no idea of its clamping force compared to the Wolfcraft. Visually, I'd bet about the same, though.

So, if any of you are on a trip and find the Wolfcraft, grab it. Meantime, those Irwins will probably do the job, albeit, with a bit more weight.

Re: Clamps and vises thread

the ones posted by chisel are newer edition quick grips...and still another model came out with spreader feature.

these new quick grips have more clamping force than its predecessors.

i have the 36 inchers old type quick grips and i tell you because of their weight becomes unwieldy at times.

so far the best f clamps in my arsenal that i consider the best are the bessey uniklamps.

Re: Clamps and vises thread

I chanced upon a close out sale at Rockle.com quite some time ago. Jet Summo Grip Clamps sold for a few dollars a piece depending on the bar length. I purchased a few pieces to try and had regretted not purchasing more. Not available anymore as far as I know.

The slightly larger handles and the way it's shaped are what I like best about these.

The Pony for sure are good.

Try Lim Yee Wan in Binondo for the Irwin Quick Grips. They just might have some NOS left.

Re: Clamps and vises thread

I have a couple of 18" Gator quick clamps, I find it a little unweldy to use. IMHO, go with quick clamps for short lengths, maybe 6-12".

Re: Clamps and vises thread

Bessey clamps, my favorite. They're always the first ones I grab when gluing my work.
I like them because I can use them up to 100" length with the use of extenders.

bought from amazon
