And here is the turning knob handle..mas maganda sana yung knob na ginamit ni sir armand sa bandsaw nya kaso nga lang wala ako makita samin..

[IMG][/IMG]

Clean and paint it gun metal gray..hindi lang halata nasobra ko sa mix ng black paint hindi ko na mahabol yung kulay dahil wala na kong silver..

This vise is awesome! Boring holes in drill press is more easier..ang daling mag fine tuning pag mag sesentro ka sa bubutasin mo..na inspire tuloy akong gumawa ng small project para ma test lang ang capability ng cross slide vise nato.. Hehehe..

@ bugel

Maganda na cross vise yan compared sa mga nakikita ko sa Binondo. Suwerte na bro makinis pa and walang tama mga jaws.

For DIYers who may be interested in a cross-vise:
May nakita ako na brandnew China-made cross-vise sa Dau, Pampanga, sa mga tindahan ng surplus tools, near Marina military surplus shops.
Yung 4 inch cross-vise daw ay Php1,600 each.. painted ito ng light blue.

Re: Clamps and vises thread

I don't recall the Jet parallel clamps being posted yet. Got these about two years back together with some Bessey UniKlamps. I already had the heavy-duty Bessey parallel clamps from late 1990s or early 2000s (predecessor to K Body Revo), so went with Jet for a change. Also, the reviews of Jet vs. Bessey were interesting.

The Jet clamps are "Made in China to JET specifications". The Bessey UniKlamps are "Made in Germany".

Size comparison:

Re: Clamps and vises thread

This year I needed more clamps. Decided to get more of the Bessey UniKlamps instead of more of the massive Jet clamps. Found the UniKlamps to be generally more useful and easier to work with in most cases. 'Light duty' may be somewhat of a misnomer; it is rated 330 lbs. Not very often that one has to apply up to 1,000 lbs of force, which is the rating of the Jet.

The UniKlamps used to be gray (see above pics). Now they are shipping black ones.

Note that the description on Amazon says that the 6-piece UniKlamp set consists of 2 each of 6, 12, and 18 inch clamps. The set that I got in 2011 as well as this year had 24 inch instead of 18 inch clamps. It looks like price has since increased about 15%, but not as much as the Jet (>50% ! why?).

If stores in Leyte don't carry it, you may have to order and have it shipped from
elsewhere. There are several ads on sulit for pipe-clamps, mostly Pony, but not all
vendors on sulit are trustworthy. You could order better-quality from the US via a
transshipper/forwarder (forexworld, etc), and goods can cost much less inthe US,
but shipping costs starts at about P1500, so it's best to bundle lots of purchases
into one box. You will then have to wait 2-3 months to get your goods.

Of course, you could take a roadtrip to Pasay and Manila, but then you'd have to
inhale the greyish dreck that passes for air here. Gasoline isn't cheap, either...
but then there's lots of other things (besides pipeclamps) you can spend time and
money on, in Metro Manila ...so plan/budget any such trip carefully.

Nothing wrong with that. 🙂

Is there a two-letter code anywhere near the "JAPAN"?
As far as bench (mechanic's) vises are concerned...
A "BF" would indicate subcontract manufacture by Hozan Tool or Daido Steel, from
1970-1986. A "DJ" would indicate Mitutoyo (Hiroshima Moulding), from 1967-1969.
Some work may have been farmed out to Kubota Corp.
