Did an acrylic base plate for my GMR1 them mounted it on what used to be a portable DIY TS.

As usual, my wood working skills is not yet close to your caliber guys. So pagpasensyahan nyo na po muna.

I used drywall screws to fix the plate on to the table.

When you drill into acrylic for those holes, did you drill in high or in low speed?

Any sign of sagging? Timber's concern with acrylic is that it bends when heated (which is the way it is desgned, heat bending acrylic is a normal practice for aquarium making)

And whenever i use my GMR i try not to hold the metallic base since it gets quite toasty...

I wouldve put a buffer plactic bewteen the base the the acrylic. I would use the base that the gmr came with and just use a larger machine bolt. I think its 5/32 sized machine bolt?

I went on low speed. was afraid of melting the acrylic. 🙂

So far no signs of sagging yet. Only used this for a short period of time. Only when I did the guitar rack. I stopped every now and then to give it rest.

I noticed that too the that metallic base gets hot.

Machine bolts? hmmm maybe i should try that. Actually I'm planning to change the base to an aluminum plate when it breaks also for my CS. I want to convert my CS to a table saw complete with fence, tracks and all. walang pambili ng totoong TS eh. hehehe

Any idea sir where can i get 1/4" aluminum sheets? Called one supplier and it cost 10k plus for 4' x 8'. they dont sell small cut sizes.

In the case of sagging, since you have lotsa space below the inverted router, maybe you could device a support from which the router could seat. make it adjustable as well for ease of use when adjusting the routing depth.

interesting to note

the american GMR-1 (bosch Colt) is rated for bits upto 1-5/16" or close to 1-1/4" to make life easier.

thats a fairly big bit for a small thing.. But then it has Variable speed and our GMR-1 is single speed.
