Re: DIY Bandsaw

Armand, Let me show you what our dear friend Dr. Jonathan Cruz saw in my shop. We slice around 20,000 board feet of wood per month. I think that'll give you an idea of how vast our experiences are with BS's and how we work our way around issues like yours and many others. Just take the time to learn the techniques we have developed in processing while you have the opportunity much like how we helped Bro.Jonathan with his church door build. He now has extensive knowledge in base production and finishing. It is now up to him to develop it whether for DIY or business.

Yes Willy I'm looking forward to see your shop one of these days. Hoping to learn too what jonathan learned from your experience and from your production set up. This is a rare opportunity and I feel so grateful for having this chance you offered.

Re: DIY Bandsaw

Armand how did you make the hole through the frame for the square steinless steel of the upper blade guide?

Use circular saw and make a groove or dado cut. The width should be slightly larger than your tube but the depth shoud be almost double the width of your square tube. Then after cutting the groove you put your square tube then you cover again with wood the extra space. Hope you got it.

Re: DIY Bandsaw

Yes bro Armand, clicked the thread and saw the build, can that be considered as a poor man's band saw. Nevertheless it looks so sturdy since most if not all are welded metals for its support.

I have a question bro with regards to the cutting blade, this could be a stupid question from a none wood worker. Doesn't the blade wander from left or right during the process of cutting lumber ? Doesn't the wheel have a sort of a groove or canal to prevent any wandering that may cause blade slipping. Please enlighten me on this matter bro, just not really sure of the groove thing for the blade.

Thanks in advance bro Armand ! 😉

I wanted to post this link a long time ago. Only now I had the chance.

Its a very good explanation why the blade stays on top of the crown.

Re: DIY Bandsaw

A [COLOR="Blue"]video update of my Band Saw. Yakal wood was used for the first test cut.

Finally it is up and running na and the only thing I can say is " Sweet" ..so sweet. Ang sarap lalo mag woodworking, mas tahimik kesa sa Table Saw ko and mas matipid sa kuryente coz 1hp lang ang motor. It is now my favorite cutting tool with almost endless possibilities when paired with my jointer. Nag linis tuloy ako ng shop just to make a dedicated space for it.

Now ready for the cabrioles.

Re: DIY Bandsaw

HAHAHA, how I wish I have that knowledge and courage to do a band saw for metal though I really want to have a horizontal band saw for precise metal cutting. I have seen some shown in you tube but maybe in time when I have done enough research and probably know where to source the cutting blades and flywheels.

Again congrats on a well done band saw !!! saw the video last night and the cut on that piece of wood on the first test cut was really very clean, smooth and precise. Iba talaga pag ang band saw ay well tuned with well sharpened blades.

Oh, when the time comes that I go into the route of wood working, I will look for your diy tool projects sa forum for reference and guidance.

CHEERS

Re: DIY Bandsaw

anytime rosy, but don't forget I owe @willyfernando a lot for his inputs during the construction so you might also need his advice when that time comes. ( I still haven't personally thank him yet :)).
