Re: Drill Press Power craft

teka, sino kumuha ng sipilyo ko

😮

nice work so far brader, pwede mo ba ibulong kung magkano mo nakuha yan?

also, try if you can avoid painting the moving parts. like the stem and the base portions... use grease lang to keep then from getting rusty.

Re: Drill Press Power craft

Good score on the DP. (Hindi katulad nung 3 musketeers that shall not be named, nagkahiyaan pa dun sa Hitachi, everyone came up empty tuloy. Dang, it should have been included in my c*llection if no one wanted it!, But to be fair, we were a bit late.)

Hey that's a good size =), no drilled holes on the table, got a slow pulley in the middle. And you can easily change chucks if ever because of the MT2 taper, although it might fall off in use as a sander. Though the machinei got has a quill lock (which also zeros play between the quill and head), SKF bearings, jacobs arbor, and .003" TIR Rohm keyless chuck which i confirmed with a dial indicator, i wouldn't worry about precision too much on modern taiwanese machines- It has always been good practice to use a center punch when drilling metal, brad points on wood, and to always use pilot holes when using twist drills.

I too was having rust problems too for the column, it stopped rusting only after i slathered it with grease. (I've tried oil, wax, rust converter, they provided a modicum of protection but i guess i needs to be re-applied every so often, like weekly.) FWIW, i found the smoothest belts was "A" series mitsuboshi belts not the notched "AX".

Sir Timb made a DP stand for his, and i used a toolbox before to elevate it. I'm no expert but please make sure you're still looking down on the workpiece- that metal chips will have no chance of flying into your eye!

Oh here's a vid, didn't use a pilot hole to tax it a bit using a 1/2" twist drill. Smooth enough not to disturb coins http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0qpSyGww0M

Re: Drill Press Power craft

The Hitachi mentioned here sayang talaga.

Speaking of chips when drilling metal medyo hassle talaga, makalat lalu na pag me DP table. I got one of this tool and will evaluate if really useful for containing chips. Will arrive sometime end May.
