Hey bro rpga4433,

Yes bro you will still need to have some hand planers, maybe of various sizes, the ELECTRIC PLANER is more for shall we say larger chunks of timber or wood, its nice having one too, makes planing faster but for detailing its great having the hand held planers. :p

Pag kinakatam mo na yung surface ng wood, try doing it slowly and listen to it .Llisten to how sharp the blade of your planer do the job, napaka sarap sa pandinig and when you do the planing yourself try experiencing the feel of the smoothness of the wood surface, be a part of the wood and for sure you will enjoy the result of your hand planing. :cool01: 😀

Sir rosy hand planing palang yan ha, Hindi hand job lol. Got myself an electric planer, wow sarap gamitin, gusto ko na ubusin yun kahoy hahaha. Pang tamad yun electric planer.

Re: Handplanes thread....... show what you have.

these data could be both in terms of long thin shavings that a plane can make and the subjective feeling of gliding effortlessly.

i have previously experienced that with my well tuned #5

sa next eb kaya pwede i-test drive yang mga low angle jacks na yan???

hehe..baka nasa moisture resistant boxes sila pag nakita natin mga brader...

@ ricky,

Bro, ha ha ha ha ha , maloko ka din pala ano, LOL, well anyway I too have an electric planer that I use for medyo rough pa na wood planks or timber,pag hindi ka talaga marunong mag control nyan e uubusin kahoy mo. LOL 😀

IBA NAMAN KASO sa mga handlpanes e, if you always use the electric planer, maririnig mo lang parate e tunug ng motor, but when using hand planes, ibang iba ang dating, feel na feel yung smooth gliding ng blade sa kahoy , observe the very thin shavings and listen to it very carefully, the sound it makes while planing slowly, parang ecstasy, lol lol lol .

Ricky that is one essence of wood working, you try to be one with the wood you are working with, observe it and feel it s l o w l y the smoothness of the surface, ang dulas at ang kinis
ang., hmmmm tama na nga, baka kung saan pa mapunta usapan. LOL :p 🙂

hand or electric it is easy if you know how. how many s4s have you bought that you can truly say that they are straight or finish quality smooth?
the best ones I have come across are by matimco but they are terribly undersized.

@timber,

dont worry brader, pag ako ang naging presidente ng pilipinas, lahat ng s4s na 1x eh dapat 3/4 inches ang nominal final thickness.

ok ba?

ehehehe

pero dapat magpalit muna ako ng apelyido siguro!

Re: Handplanes thread....... show what you have.

Ano ba talaga ang pinaka top of the line ... LN ba o LV? hehehheheh

It appears that the LV is the more logical choice. It's cheaper by a bit, it has set screws to align the blade, blade's wider by 1/4", some say the casting is thicker...

...it's just the LN for me =). I found myself admiring the thing for about 45 minutes, wiping parts that i've touched with my greasy paws with kleenex when i brought it home. It just has that... as the french-speaking canadians would say... je ne sais quoi.

Good thing i never bought a digital camera, camphone picture quality is getting more and more decent, I personally would get more enjoyment out of using this plane that never gets obsolete than a digicam...

===
Funny, i was watching a docu in youtube about a cremonese violin maker- 5th generation or whatever. The tv narrator was harping on how traditional the luthiers were, with technique and tools that never changed since the time of guarneri or stradivarius. On the tool tray, i spied a LN (i.e. american) bronze block plane! Hah!
