Re: jet jts10 first impressions

These are all good news!

It may be sad that the assembly is quite poor prolly due to loss of strict QA thus affecting performance. Come to think of it, the bad results were because of the assembly and not because of the actual product itself. Once we got over of the assembly defects, the table saw is already performing good (not at par with the others but still performing as needed).

The sun seems to be brighter this time for this table saw. After all these, we now have troubleshooting ideas when another is bought (or will there really be another?). I must confess I'm one of those who's hoping the Jet would be a good saw after all.

Any other pending issues with the Jet sir Ben?

Re: jet jts10 first impressions

HI Jarod

There is still this problem that at different height of the blade its "footing" shifts by a few mm. Only noticeable when i first made a zero plate insert.

The main problem here is when using a thin strip jig for repeatable thickness of strips. As long as you are cutting stock same depth height its no problem. But lets say you want two different depth height pieces with the same thickness, due to shift in "footing" as you raise the blade for the one with more depth height the effective cutting thickness would change.

I am not sure if my explanation made sense?

Re: jet jts10 first impressions

@beebeenator:
Got it sir Ben. Well as much as not that advisable, better to configure the blade to cut in the higher setting to cut the thicker stock and just use the same configuration when cutting the thinner stock.

You may just device a toggle clamp of some sort in your sled to hold down the cut pieces when cutting the thinner stock in a much higer blade.

@rolly:
The Makita 2703 is the older version of the MLT-100. Would love to hear reviews of this as well and the price as well =)

Re: jet jts10 first impressions

the 2703 and the MLT100 are two different breeds, they are priced the same at 32K (my last inquiry) with the stand included for the MLT (limited promo only). My bad, violaine has the MLT as a second ts, pretty sure he hasn't used it yet, he might sell... baka lang naman.

Noted. I might have misunderstood what the salesman told me before. Good to know it has some extras.

Re: jet jts10 first impressions

2703 has a fair bit of reviews floating around the net. however the mlt100 hardly has any full review so its hard to tell.

So we will have to wait for Volaine for now for the mlt100 review 🙂

Re: jet jts10 first impressions

i just saw the fence of both models. the mlt100's looks awfully like the one in my jet jts10... and its no good and its short!

but the miter guage on the mlt100 looks more complex, it even has a hold down clamp i think, while the one on the 2703 looks like my jet jts10... notice how i refer back to my ts? i really dont know why 😛

Re: jet jts10 first impressions

the 2703 is a good saw with a terrible fence system, if you can upgrade it, it is a better choice. the MLT still in its infancy is already getting praises, but time would tell how good it is. for a little more I still would suggest the Bosch 4100 ts, best in its class, nothing but praises for this saw from all over. or you can get a ryobi ts which comes with a $1,000,000.00 rebate (lol, someone sued Ryobi for not having the flesh sensing capability that is already available, iba talaga sa US)...

Re: jet jts10 first impressions

the Mlt 100 seems to have a larger effective table top area plus it has an incorporated sliding crosscut table on the left... nice

and my SWMBO said she is willing to get one for me as a gift.... but i feel bad since my jet was bought just recently 😛

Re: jet jts10 first impressions

IIRC Violaine went into this exercise before. Jet JTS-10 then a Makita MLT-100 then finally settled with a Bosch 4100.
