I am in the verge of having all basic tools available in my workshop

The last big rig missing for me is a dedicated jointer

Am looking for a decent 8" jointer which Torq has. I forget the price will call them up later or tommorrow.

While am still hunting and looking, Those of you who have jointers (very few i think) please post yours 🙂

Also i believe i read at lumberjocks that Armand will be making a shopmade jointer ala Mathias Wandel (if i spelled his name right, the genius behind woodgears.ca , who also made a shopbuilt bandsaw)

LAST NA ,... LAST NA TALAGA na tool over 50kg in weight HAHHAHAH

@bee

Sure dito ko na i-post WIP ko ng shopmade Jointer, though its not popular among woodworkers that a jointer be shopmade, wala akong magawa sa mahal ng branded Jointers kundi build it myself.

Will a link to Lumberjocks do? I already have 2 blogs there regarding this Jointer.

Re: Jointer Hunting/Show your Jointner thread

Thanks Armand! I may go this route as well. The more the wips the better 🙂

A decent 8" jointer is 60K plus , a 6" from chaiwanese will go for 20-30K

Subscribed, too!

Question. I'm thinking of adding a long granite bed for the ryobi thicknesser. Something like this:

Will that be enough to make it function like a jointer? One without the square fence, of course.

BTW, that image came from this thread:

Re: Jointer Hunting/Show your Jointner thread

@joey

no matter how many granite you put, it will still function as a thicknesser. And using a thicknesser alone will not be able to square a rough-sawn or warped stock.

Re: Jointer Hunting/Show your Jointner thread

if you want your thicknesser to work as a jointer Joey, you can build a planner bed, I have the plans in a book which you can borrow or you can try googling it. I will post a link if I find it. It is definitely easier to make that bed, but bulky if you need it to joint 8' long boards.

Re: Jointer Hunting/Show your Jointer thread

here's a situation: I still have acacia plank measuring 1.25" x 12" x 48'' that i want to be converted into a hall table, but it is cupped and slightly warped. Convex on one side and concave on the other side. To be able to make it perfectly square you use a Jointer to flatten the concave side then use the thicknesser on the convex side to make it parallel to the jointed side. Hope this helps.:):)

after that, you will probably have a very thin top for your table.

Re: Jointer Hunting/Show your Jointner thread

@Armand, thanks! I still need to put the granite because my thicknesser's bed is already not level I think.

@timber, I think I already saw that planer bed somewhere. Yes, its unwieldy for use with long stock. For now tiyaga muna ako sa pagpili ng straight S4S sa hardware. Will try to avoid the need to build that jig as much as possible. :p

Re: Jointer Hunting/Show your Jointner thread

@jayL

the largest they have is 10" as posted [COLOR="Blue"]here for P38,700. But the description of the blade size is confusing.

@bee

..he he that sounds good, I know how much your first jointer is (now in Tarlac).

Re: Jointer Hunting/Show your Jointner thread

@ JayL

They have an 8" version i will call elektrowerks l;ater or tom to confirm price

@ Armand
I think those are combos with thicknesser and jointer. Purchasing urges have its downsides too hehehe

The weight of their 6" is 58 Kg , the wieght of their 8" is 158 KG. thats alot of steel
