Last week the FMT Jig I ordered from amazon finally arrived after almost 2 months of waiting
Here are few pictures out-of-the-box

I cut a plank of wood 26"x5"x0.75" and attached it to FMT base

then I assembled the FMT and fitted the subbase with my triton router. The subbase is designed to accommodate most routers so I didn't encounter any problem fitting it.

I started my first WIP (a baby crib) using FMT. The mortises and tenons produced were very smooth and the fit is perfect. You can produce tight fit or loose fit depending on your preference. Ill post my WIP in the coming days.

Re: Leigh FMT Jig

@Sir Violaine you're right!:D great observation haha. I dont have enough shade outside the house to stock the wood. This accumulates because I keep on buying wood if I have a project in mind. But the time has come to feed them to my hungry router & FMT hehe...
Pasensya n po, I have no idea what type of malaysian wood my dining table was made, nor have much knowledge about wood at all. But now everytime Im making a trip to the hardware store Im trying to familiarize myself with them..

Re: Leigh FMT Jig

I bought the 3/8", 1/4", & 1/2" mortise & tenon guides only. Leigh already robbed me with the jigs, so I limit the additional accessories to a minimum:(

Someone (forgot who) told me they're wood from rubber trees.

Makes sense, since Malaysia has plantations of them. They probably use them for lumber after productive life.

Re: Leigh FMT Jig

I was finally able to try the FMT for the first time Nov. 14, but with the jig broken down for shipping figuring the parts was a bit difficult. and while my machines were used sa seminar together with the step down transformer, I cut a piece for trial and it came out bad with the tenon so small that it fits soooo loose into the mortise..
but given the time to read the manual and made adjustments, Chisel and I routed the first M&T after the eb.

the fit was perfect! exactly what we needed and with glue, it came out very strong. I would say Jurgen was pleased too...

we had time to try angled joint and this is what came out...

So tired and had to go home with dog duties, I leave the jig for the next day to make something....
