Re: looking for a good Bandsaw

Unless I am missing something... For just a few units, I don't see much chance to save on price of the saw itself. For the shape and size, I don't see much chance to save on shipping if using a service like Forex which charges by linear inch (L + W + H). In theory, you could combine multiple saws and share on two out of three dimensions, but that probably requires crating or special boxing which seems impractical or not worth doing, or unrealistic to expect to be done?

If there is any chance to reduce shipping, it would probably be in other methods like piggybacking on a container or less than container load (LCL), or in getting the local distributor to special import. I am not familiar with container or LCL shipping, so I don't know what the customs duties/processing and delivery liabilities would be in that method.

Re: looking for a good Bandsaw

The catch here is shipping the goods via balikbayan box so it would be tax free. Shipping more than one unit might not be the case.

I believe Forex charges $70 for shipping a single saw. I could not see any savings by doing a group buy. Likewise I don't see any discounts too from US Suppliers if the saw will be purchased online. What probably will be best is to wait for the saw to be on sale before pulling the trigger.

Be careful of US state taxes. If the saw will be shipped from California then make sure you get a supplier outside California or else there is tax. Anyway interstate shipping for this product is usually free of charge from the supplier.
