If it was me I would have no problem choosing any of the two drills posted. Both are good tools. I have had very good luck with my Bosch and Makita drills although these were the old schools type manufactured in Germany and Japan respectively. Going almost 15 years now and both still running well.

Great post there Jay! It is really comforting to hear "15 years".

I got confused by the "16 mm concrete" spec momentarily. It was my first time to encounter such. I think one, the actual maximum chuck opening, would be enough.

I did see a Bosch but my comparison was between the 2nd tiers and Makita. Bosch really never got into the picture this time. Once I saw it was worth going first tier, it was a Makita. Bosch does have a tool I'd like: a variable speed grinder ... Makita doesn't seem to have one.
