My Makita RP2301FC arrived few weeks ago. It comes with accessories like

router fence, vacuum dust port, 3/8" & 1/4" collet adaptor.

Out of the box:

After taking a closer look at it I tried to unscrew the plastic subbase. To my great surprise 2 coil springs fly away. Grrrr :mad:what have I done, I
lost the tiny springs! After searching for half an hour I found 1 but the other is still missing. I tried to take a closer look at the portion where the springs are attached. I found out that it is part of the locking mechanism for the guide bush adapter.

To my great relief I found the other one the next day (persistent
searching paid off!).:trampoline:

I bought the leigh 703 guide bush adapter for PC & makita routers,

unfortunately this new router model have a different locking mechanism.

so I made a little modification by cutting a shallow groove at the sides

of the adapter. Now I use it.

I tested it with my new Leigh D4Rpro

After using it for more than 180 M&T's for my crib WIP this router has

become my favorite for plunge routing. Much easier than using triton.

That's a real mean but good looking router. Made in Japan too.

Congrats bro.

Nice router bro, I love routers... the Triton should see the table soon as it is best under the rt....

Re: Makita RP2301FC

I agree with you sir timber, triton is best for RT while Makita is best for plunge.
Much easier than using triton.
that makita is 3 1/4 HP..thats the real reason(of course the tritons have their own 3 1/4s).

another thing..i am not a triton user but the looks of their handles, the makita's will fare better..ergonomically speaking...if i am going to get a triton, id would love to tear down the handles when table mounted.

great tools you have now in your arsenal.

more projects to come eh?!

😎

but i a dreaming of the new bosch routers...only if they are in 220V!!!

Re: Makita RP2301FC

IMHO, the Triton's round handle excels in fixed position works like in dovetailing and finger jointing in a jig.

Don't tear the Triton handles down Doc, it is what makes the Triton great under the table. The rack and pinion controlled by the handle is what makes adjustment under the table work so well.

Re: Makita RP2301FC

I agree sir jarod, it is good at fixed position. I use the triton for flush trimming because it's lighter than the makita.

Re: Makita RP2301FC

one thing i noticed with this model..the height adjustment knob is smaller than the 3612c...not very well designed for table mounting.
