hi,

anybody here who has used the maktec plunge router? reviews/ insights/ comments on the product please.

also, i still havent decided if i wil buy the maktec or the black and decker router, but really inlcined toward choosing maktec. . .

will be using it for home newbie projects, reason why i am limited to the two is because of the price. . . i just cant buy something more expensive right now. maktec is around 6k and b&d around 9-10k.

review and insights will be much appreciated.

thanks

Re: maktec router

I've not used a Maktec router but my favorite industrial supply carries them. They said Makita and Maktec are basically the same expect that the Maktec uses less durable materials so it won't last as long.

For me the quality that really distinguishes Makita tools is their balance. So they deliver power more smoothly and evenly across their load range. This makes them easier to handle and actually makes them last longer.

Re: maktec router

+1 to what Incc said...
I have used a Maktec, it was my first router. for the price, I would say it is a good router, it had power and accuracy that I needed with my projects back then. I even used it under the table(as a router table). compared to the Maks, they do generate heat more but not enough to be a concern. as for the built, yes, if you look at their exploded diagrams, they are almost the same as the Maks, only difference is the materials used, which really factor a lot in the long run....
