Sorry i cant seem to find any topic regarding this and for lumping them both together.

Im in the process of fixing my old kitchen cabinets, and for the drawers, i usually see in tutorials people using dowels for the frame of the drawers, and a cam screw lock (minifix in particular).

Does anybody know where to buy an adjustable dowel jig and a minifix jig? I can order one online probably, but that will take a while. Im thinking if there's anything available locally.

Thanks

i use them before for my knockdown cabinets. you could go to hafele, i read in one post recently that the shop/factory is still here (somewhere in taguig), just google it, they should have both the minifix and the dowel jigs. it was the people from hafele that told me about the system 32 concept of cabinet making in the 80's. their quite expensive and i use to buy this specialty jigs only during a clearance sale :-). another good brand is wolcraft (also germany) - the dowel jig i have now is from wolcraft which is hardly use :-).

rather than buy this expensive jigs, it's much better (less expensive) and practical to make your own jig for a specific task - you'll also learn a lot of practical things while making it. making jigs for screws (e.g. cam screws) and dowels are quite simple and easy to make and there are a lot of articles about it in the internet.

explain what you need to do (repairs of cabinet and drawers) and a lot of members in this forum can give you some ideas on how to make a simple jig to help you with your project ... cheers

thanks for the input. I actually messaged hafele philippines via facebook and they gave me an email to contact. i did so and only got a reply about a week later. their minifix unitool for 15 and 12mm screws was around 109k! Lol.

I'll just probably get another brand. Saw a couple over at amazon. Hoping I could get one and have a relative bring it home over the holidays.

I've looked around at some big DIY stores here in Manila, but they dont carry any of the jigs.

I've looked at some tutorials and videos on making some jigs, but some of them need some power tools i dont have. lol. anyway, i'm hoping of thinking some way to work with dowels and cam screws since my first project are cabinet drawers.

ill probably start a new post and get feedback on how to do them from the other forumers. thanks for the input!
