Planing to make a Crosscut Sled for my Bosch 4100 table saw. This one looks simple enough:m http://www.finewoodworking.com/item/39002/build-a-super-precise-tablesaw-crosscut-sled

But I don't know where to get a miter slide/bar. Does anyone know a source? Or should I take my chances at those aluminum window shops?

Re: Miter Bar/Slide

you can do it shop-made.

if i'm not wrong the miter slot measures 3/8" deep and 3/4" wide.

a wood will do just fine...

you can lessen the depth by 1/8" or less.

you can put a pair of coin along the lenght of the slot when temporarily fastening the shopmade miter bar onto the sled with a drops of cyanoacrylate ( mighty bond ), then remove and screw it as it adheres into the sled.

then you can slide your sled into the miter track just fine...

Re: Miter Bar/Slide

There's UHMW plastic, but if you are going to machine UHMW, might as well just machine wood for a first sled.

T-slot track for 1/4-20 thread with outer size 3/4 x 3/8 should fit, though somewhat of a waste, and I noticed that they are slightly undersized (by about 0.2+ mm) and the Bosch 4100 miter slot is slightly oversized (by about 0.2+ mm), resulting in slack that would have to be dealt with.

Beyond wood, it might be useful to ask the aluminum stores like Aluminum Power on T. Alonzo or Calco if they have 3/4 x 3/8 flat bar and to check the machining quality if suitable as miter bar.
