Re: New Skil Router

Golden sent me a text about this. My heart sunk. I just picked up a Bosch Router in a recent trip.

I just ordered this for myself Ding.

I really don't think you can go wrong with a bosch router, you can always put it in the classifieds and I'm sure there will be takers. I could even be one of them :apple:You see, I love routers... :balloon:

Re: New Skil Router

He-he. But I just got the cheap 1617 with the fixed base, not that pro model you posted, Timber. Of course, I also got the lift. Managed to assemble the whole thing on the router table last weekend. Didn't even fire it up yet as I still have to wire up the 5kW panther xformer for the shop. I'm now in a business conference for the whole week until Sunday so suffering withdrawal symptoms from my new tools.

Re: New Skil Router

Honestly Ding, I wouldn't look at it as a loss for that matter. Getting the 1617 is the best option for you as you have the Bosch router table already. Finally maximizing the table instead of getting another router that won't even match it, is the best decision for your scenario.

All's well that ends well.

Re: New Skil Router

1617 is a classic, it is the first all new router that bosch developed.

and it has it's own specific task in woodworking.

and i believe woodworkers don't need only one router. we have to have a number of router for it to achieve it's own task...

now i know why master timber love routers. :chop:

actually i love routers too. ts and routers on a race on who's the most usable tools in ww... :dog:

they go hand in hand....

Re: New Skil Router

@balarila,

withdrawal symptoms? can't you bring the router and some of your tools and place them on the conference table?

:hang:

I just wish bosch Phils will get its own stock of these new routers...this one in fact is in my most wanted list..except for the 110V.:(

i hate rewire work for now.

Re: New Skil Router

oh did I mention lalabas na rin yung Bosch TS soon? :headache:

If that is the GTS 10 as shown on the PH website, I guess they could not make importation and voltage adaptation of the 4100 happen?

I wonder if it was technical or just marketing (4100 reserved for US only, GTS 10 rest of world, or some such rule).

The Skil router will not fit or cannot be made to fit on the Bosch router table? If so, I wonder whether that is deliberate or shows lack of planning/integration between Skil and Bosch.

Yes, I do believe the 4100 is designed only for the US market bec of their strict guidelines.
Skil I believe though owned also by Bosch is still a separate company Guad, it is like Dremel will not make a machine to incorporate another product by Bosch just because they own that too...
