Re: Ozito Belt Sander suggestion.

HI there boggieman,

Yes friend I have one and its the 1000 watts variant. So far so good, this belt sander is still working fine up to now and no problem with it, though its an Australian surplus, you know how it is with this Australian surplus, their current rating is only 50 hertz so I don't abuse it, but its fine for DIYing use if you are on a tight budget.I use it occasionally and bought it from our friend bro pyth, also a contributing member here, also with a sulit account. Check him out, he might be able to give you a good price being a PHM member too. I think he still have the 1000 watts and the 800 watts variant. 😉

Yes the sanding belts are available locally, plenty at Binondo store in Ongpin/Sta Cruz. Just have to know the size of the belt. Check out Mayon Hardware Supply and some adjacent stores. 😎

Re: Ozito Belt Sander suggestion.

Sorry, chiming in a bit late. But I can see you got your sander.

I have the same, bought from Pyth, and very happy with it.

I use it for rough sanding flat material. For fine sanding, nothing beats orbital sanders with velcro-backed paper. But those sandpapers can be expensive so the Ozito is a great, cheap way for first sanding, especially when you have to remove lots of material.

Sometimes, I clamp it on my workbench upside-down and use it as a bench sander.

Just be careful with it. A few times, mishandling it, it ran away from me. I mean, really sped off!

Try setting it down while it's still spinning and you'll have lots of excitement.
