Re: please help on table saw purchase

Here are the pics of my Taiwan Table Saw..

1. The table top, showing the anti-kickback pawls disabled for thin ripping.

2. The accessories, the original aluminum miter slot runner was replaced with a hardwood.

3. Here on top of my old table saw beside my drum sander/thicknesser.

4. The blade and insert. I immediately replaced the stock blade with a 60T Mikuni TCT blade.

So far very happy with the performance, just enough for my need. I can work even after my office work without bothering the neighbors.

Re: please help on table saw purchase

@armand,
your TS looks very decent and seemingly with a cast iron top.

but i am more interested on your drum sander con dust vacuum port tandem...

can we have a closer look?;)

Re: please help on table saw purchase

Armand, I have couple of questions that others may also be asking..

1. Does it cut true?
2. Is the table top a cast iron?
3. how heavy it is?

This is a bit Out of topic but I just can't help but ask
4. Was that a ryobi sliding saw?
5. how about the issue of 50hz to 60hz

Thanks a lot

Re: please help on table saw purchase

@violaine: sir , accidental lang yung pagkakalagay ng vacuum port on my drum sander but actually the next move is to put an enclosure for the drum with dust port , maybe this weekend, ang ginawa ko kanina ay putting 4 casters coz its so heavy to move around my small shop.

@elexcis
1. yes it cuts true, its very easy to calibrate just by using my plastic triangle.
2. the table top is cast iron, flat.
3. di naman sya mabigat kasi plastic ang body, i plan to have it attached to a table of angular bars.

Re: please help on table saw purchase

to those who are looking for table saws, i think Armand's find is a great entry level saw.

Thanks for sharing Armand

if i saw/knew where you got your table saw before i got my 100kg beast. i may have gotten it instead of the one i have now 🙂 but nevertheless the saw i got was worth the price.

finally the forumers have more choices and options when it comes to table saws

Re: please help on table saw purchase

Armand I like your TS, and for the price panalo.Thank you very much for sharing. Tama si Ben, now we have more options, hindi lang sa brand but also for pricing. I saw sa panda merong cute na Dremel TS for 6t, pero nabaha daw yon kaya not for sale na.

Re: please help on table saw purchase

FYI lang guys. last year it was ruled out sa US that no table saw shall be sold in their stores without a riving knife. they made it compulsory for manufacturers to equip their products with it for safety reasons.
its probably just me, but I don't like backward progress (progress pero paatras is not called progress). so when you guys can, get one with the safest table saw features you can get. Having said that, TS's without riving knives can be fitted with one... lots of ways from dirt cheap modification to expensive third market riving knife kits.
what is important is we stay safe. I know several here has has a bad TS experience, so please stay safe...

Re: please help on table saw purchase

i saw that link too a few minutes ago.

because i have 12 inch blade once the blade is fully up, there is hardly any space behind it for a riving knife. its only around 1 " clearance.. grrrr
