Hi,

I'm new to woodworking/carpentry (hobby) and currently hunting for a budget friendly plunge router for my diy home projects.
I would likely get a router table in the future so the one one i'm looking for should be at home under it.
Tips and suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated.

TIA

The Skill 1827 plunge router I think is the cheapest with good brand name. Around 4500 pesos.

Thanks jantech! That's actually my top option (in terms of price) however i read somewhere here that it can't be mounted under a router table. Would you know if it's still accurate? Thanks!

Not sure if it is accurate or not I'm using a different brand of router, sale kasi sa wilcon nun so I bought the maxell brand. I see no reason why a particular router can't be mounted on a router table.. I think all router have 3 holes on its base..

Hi. There are lots of router out there but I would like to ask what are the things I need to consider or to look for before buying a router. Any advice?

Measure twice, cut once, then force it to fit. 😀

Hello, I'm a handtool guy, but router is one that I have in my arsenal, When it comes to router my suggestion is to go for router that accept both 1/4 and 1/2 bits, a plunge router isbetter than fixed base one, some prefer the transparent bottom too, also look for the soft start feature this will prevent sudden kick start. I can't think of any other than don't spend too much on the router itself, the important is the bits. I hope this help.

Thank you. Any suggestions of model/brands?

I'm contemplating to get the Bosch GMR1 Professional.

, just my comments ... any of the good brands (e.g. Bosch, Makita, DeWalt) will do. as what Boggieman said, what is important is what is your plan (e.g. handheld, mounted on a table, etc) on how to use the router and the functionality that goes with the a certain brand/model ... never sacrifice the two (your requirement and the products additional function to your requirement) for price because in the end, you'll just get disappointed with your decision ...

if price is really an issue to you, consider looking for second hand units (in good working condition) of branded products ... you just need to put more time in looking for it like pawnshops, surplus shops, online forums, etc ... cheers

Yes. You just have to do it in multiple shallow passes.
