Hi everyone, besides from the Skil 1830 and the Bosch MRC23EVSK, are there any other combo kit routers available locally? In line with this, I saw someone purchased these, are they autovolt?
I just simply don't want to buy a transformer if I can avoid it. Thank you.

Re: Plunged and Fixed Combo Routers

I don't think those are available here in 220v 60Hz. Maybe someone knows better?
I've seen sulit ads for the Skil and Bosch combos (even for Porter Cable) in the past,
but the vendor described them as 110v, sourced from US stock.

Re: Plunged and Fixed Combo Routers

thanks sir Horge. I guess I don't have much of a choice. It's either I get a step down transformer or just get either a fixed or a plunge.

Re: Plunged and Fixed Combo Routers

thanks sir Horge. I guess I don't have much of a choice. It's either I get a step down transformer or just get a either a fixed or a plunge.

A few units (in 220v/60Hz) were available a few years ago, but then
no new stock followed.

Well, the main appeal to those combo sets is that you can attach the
fixed base to a router table for table-work; and then slip the motor out
whenever you need to do some hands-only plunge routing. It will be
A challenge finding a fixed-base locally --at least one that can easily be
adapted to table-work.

[COLOR="Gray"]I have a surplus 1250w Ryobi plunge that works okay. For table-work,
my cousin (who used to post here, actually) gifted me with a cheapo
J.C.Kawasaki D-handle recently, it's a 920w 9113B, and although he
meant well, D-handles really are a poor choice for table mounting. I will
have to gut the router's D-handle and its built-in switch.

The low level of manufacturing quality evident in the JCK 9113B router
will restrict it to very coarse table-routing jobs only. the fit between its
base and motor is so poor, the mating so gravity-dependent, and the
locking system so primitive, that the bit is never at a true perpendicular
to the baseplate (and thus the router table), nor is it at any consistent
angle from bit-change to bit-change.

Sounds like the the kind of ass-end forwards challenge that I enjoy, lol.

Good luck with your router-hunt.

Re: Plunged and Fixed Combo Routers

Thanks again! That was really my intention to have a fixed base permanently on the table and have a plunger on hand separately. I'm also gathering info on that JC Kawasaki and I think your comment sealed my decision not to consider this brand. This forum is really helping me a lot.

I guess my options has become lesser and lesser, combo kit with transformer, or just plunge a router.
