Making a new workbench has been on my mind for awhile. After finding out that Armand got a tail screw vise from Panda... I would like to see installation and out of the box pic of the tail screw vise 🙂
I'm sure this would benefit a lot of forumers
Cheers

Re: Requesting pics of tail screw vise and installation
Here's also a useful site.
Have no experiencing doing vises yet so not sure if the instructions on this site are specific to the model of the tail vise in the documentation.
Re: Requesting pics of tail screw vise and installation
Yup, got this at Panda for p620. I may install it at the tail end of the table in a different way by putting a jaw with a single doghole on the jaw. Need to cut the sandwiched 2x4 apron in half to be able the screw to run underneath. I hope it will serve the same purpose.
Re: Requesting pics of tail screw vise and installation

do you have an idea if they have only 8 inch long? or 18 inch lang?

wala yata stock ang panda.
you may have to cut the threaded rod instead to make it shorter and have the tip machine shopped for the perfect taper.

Ossie, they only have the 18" inch bench screw.

Re: Requesting pics of tail screw vise and installation
According to the label, Record bench screw is made in 14, 16, and 18 inch lengths. Has anyone checked with other hardware stores like LYS or Yale whether they have the shorter versions? Or whether they or Panda can get the shorter versions in their next shipment?
I suppose a 1 inch machine bolt could be used instead of cutting the Record screw, but the coarse pitch (8 tpi) of the Record screw is nice in vises, especially for the impatient.
Re: Requesting pics of tail screw vise and installation
btw, how do you keep the rust from setting in these (Record) vises lever?
how i wish these levers were made of some non rusting aluminium allloy.
