Considering to get one. What do you guys think about this tool? Most of the time I work alone now and would need a helping hand.

Here's a video of it. Last on the right frame.

Re: Rockwell Jawhorse

This one has mobility and can be folded efficiently and taken on site too. Foot operated clamp as well.

Did you watch the video?

Re: Rockwell Jawhorse

did not watch the video yet, just one question, will you bring it off-site? that means you have to bring your other tools with it. so IMO, if you can answer that with a YES", then you're good to go...

Re: Rockwell Jawhorse

Where could we find a quick-adjust vise with a 0-16" opening, convertible to 0-37", that could be mounted on a portable base.

Or, failing that, how do we convert a lightweight bar or pipe clamp into a heavyweight mountable vise with very wide jaws that are rack-resistant.

Or, where can we get a twin-pipe or twin-bar single-screw clamp or vise like in this Portamate equivalent.
(The cheaper Triton equivalent looks like it has the same mechanism as Rockwell.)

What is the clamping force of Workmate, for comparison with Jawhorse (1 ton).

Must have that Jaw Horse
"No! You can't have the Jawhorse! You're out of control!"

Re: Rockwell Jawhorse

All metal and small foot print, that are just the bonuses but I think what's more important here is the ability to handle things without other's help. Those are the times where you would be glad you have things such as the Jaw Horse. Best idea is to clamp a thing with no hands and just with your feet.

You may do well with the other things but it's the convenience that you are actually buying here I think. If you can recall several episodes that you wish you had this, then it's a no brainer.

Jay, just don't forget to post pics and reviews when you get one ha! 😀

Re: Rockwell Jawhorse

I just found it somewhat unusual how one can install sheet rock for the ceiling without help on the ceiling. think about it...
with a stick and the proper length, you don't need the sawhorse.
you can mount your cms on any table or any stand and add 2x4 for support and it will work as well...
with several stock, you can support a fence post or mailbox stand while you fill the hole...
cutting plywood with a CS? do you really need a sawhorse for that?
clamping capacity? so much work around...

the only advantage I see is the portability... but of course this is my opinion. everyone is entitled to their own...
oh and like Jarod mentioned, clamping materials using your feet too...

Re: Rockwell Jawhorse

And I think the best one reason and where no one could defy is the reasoning of "Gusto ko eh". Which sometimes (or mostly happens) when we really want to have something because we deem it necessary.

For example, most people don't understand the feeling of riding a two-wheeler. Some may say it's dangerous but it's somewhat fulfilling - a reason that not everyone could comprehend. Or even in woodworking, I mostly hear people tell me "At nagkakapentero ka pa ngayon?", I would just say yes as it would be a hard time explaining how it affects me.

Kaya ako tito Jay, if it would make you smile every night in bed, why not?

Re: Rockwell Jawhorse

I might get another condo renovation contract if the current tenant decides to vacate this year end. If yes then it's a good reason to get one Jawhorse. I'll incorporate it in the cost. 🙂 For now I'll put it a bit down on the wishlist.

I think once folded you don't have to carry it as it has a roller. You just need to pull to move it around.

I guess that answers most of my questions. Get the Ozito and scavenge it for its vise.

So, 1/4 cost of Rockwell ... $179 / 4 = $45.
$45 x 45 = P2,025
Is that right? Where can we get one locally?
