Would it be possible for a palm or laminate router to be transformed to be a table router?

Was thinking of converting a small router like the Bosch GMR palm router and create a table for it to be a table router just like what the others are using.

Re: Router inquiry

yes Jarod, it can be done and has been done. just remember the power it has and never put in large router bits. multiple passes is the trick for this, remember even dremel rotary tool has an attachment for router table use...

Re: Router inquiry

Thanks sir Sonny. I believe when you say "large router bits" you mean the width right? Since as long as the shank and collet are matched, it could be used and just perform multiple passes as you suggested.

Re: Router inquiry

Just saw the Bosch palm router and found that it could only cater to 1/4" shanks. It seems to get smaller and smaller everytime I get to see one spcially when displayed along side with the bigger and mightier Makitas

Oh my, the cheapest I saw was the Makita M363 for 10.3K. if only I have deep pockets! =(

Re: Router inquiry

yes Jarod, the Bosch laminate trimmer sports only 1/4" router bits, hence if you intend it for a rt, limit the bits you use on it to avoid burning it...
