Re: Suggest me a 7-1/4 circular saw

Bro, try www.sulit.com. I bought the saw from the vendor named "pyth". I'm getting an extra battery and a laminate trimmer from him today (I hope) of course subject to scrunity. Nice fellow, knows his tools, and he delivers.

just another thing to consider, while a smaller blade will weigh less, the depth of cut is much less too, I wanted a 5" for cutting sheet goods like plywood... read the specs online before buying one,

click my signature and it will take you there........

Timber is right. My 5" saw did not cut all the way through the 2x8 which is S2S so it is actually very close to 2" thick. I originally mentioned this but I guess I edited it out.

ya, i was reading the specs of several circulars and i guess a 5.25 won't be good for me.

my target thickness would be at most 2."

Re: Suggest me a 7-1/4 circular saw

Bro if I had an upper limit of P5k for a circular saw I'd buy the Makita. My thinking is this:

P5,800 is not much more than P5,000 ... that only 3 or 4 days of gasoline ... or 1 week of lunches at McDo ... or one week off from the drinking buddies. Sure you'll probably not recuperate the extra cost of P2,800 but I don't think you'd like to care about such things where your hobby is concerned.

For me the primary stumbling block would be in succeeding to momentarily forget all the other goody tools I could buy if I only spend P3k for the saw. With P2k I could buy the nice Makita cobalt drill set at Han's Tools I just saw ... or was that P3k ... but you get my point I suppose.

yup i get what you mean exactly. its actually what i was thinking about just a few hours ago. if the price isn't that far naman, why not go for makita.

btw, among the line of makita's 7.25", which has the lowest price?

Bro, I'm really no expert. Still a "red flag" goes up in my mind when I even just look at a Makita. My suggestion is call Mayon and ask them, then go to one of the dealers to get the best price. It seems though most dealers are giving a 40% discount on the SRP.

Interesting price point there, if the Makita set is really P2K.

In comparison, if you add up the retail prices (e.g., True Value) of the all the MaxSell HSS cobalt drill bits (13 bits, from 1.5 to 13.0 mm), it comes out to P2,147.75.

That's what I meant ... I see them, I want them, then I end up feeling bad about making the "right" decision. There is really no point to making oneself feel bad, is there.

Which model? Of course I wouldn't know. 🙂

Guys you'll have to help Spyghost out here.

Precisely.

Add in the fact that you could also buy materials for a project makes the choice even more difficult.

Re: Suggest me a 7-1/4 circular saw

@lncc
the model i was referring to is a makita 7.25" model... 😛 that is if you have any recommendations for this. i'm leaning on the least price since this is a makita anyway so no question on quality. what's important for me is the blade guard (do all circ saws have this?)

i haven't seen rollins. do they have a sign? where is it north bound or south bound? website?

Re: Suggest me a 7-1/4 circular saw

incc,

no parking in front of store, but owner offered parking at their warehouse a couple of blocks at the back, never tried it though. i usually park at araneta center and walk to the store, medyo malayo nga lang. . . i just take a cab back to the parking, lalo na pag may stash na

spy,

yes they have a sign.
when southbound, to the right. no website.

its the best-priced makita/maktec store in the area. . .

I think I've noticed the store. Never went there though because of the accessibility. Good to know just the same. Thanks!
