Hi guys,

For those who didn't get to see the pics on my laptop during the seminar at Hafele, here are some pics I took about 3 weeks ago of my supplier of hardwood in Taytay. Their main source of lumber are old houses, warehouses or any wooden building that were sold for demolition. Old hardwoods such a yakal, ipil, saplungan and balayong are what I usually get. Prices range from 75 to 180 per boardfoot depending on size and wood specie. I'm planning to go there next weekend. Those who are able can join in. Its located just off Ortigas extension near the Panasonic factory.

Hey Workbench! Thanks for posting these pics. Count me in on the weekend-wood-shopping-spree. I take it you're aiming for Saturday, Sept 4?

By the way, did you happen to pick up those Naniwa water stones?

Re: Taytay wood source

Nice. I know 3 sources in manila but they're from 180 to 250 per b.f. Waayy undersized too (about 60-70% in actual.) Can't help but feel being cheated when i buy so i rarely do. (Sampaloc, Harrison, with Onyx being the cheapest.)

That place looks more organized, hope i could join in. Am not familiar with the area, pwede pa convoy? (I got a sedan, not best for hauling but it's all i got.) Moj tara =). And sir Timb of course, and Violane.

Saturday september 4- are other guys ok with it? *cross fingers that excuse works for clingy g.f.*

It's a go for me =). Feel free to ride with me Moj. The thing tho is that my trunk is limited to 4 feet long pieces, the back seat 3' 9" long.

Looking forward to getting to know more of the community =).

Re: Taytay wood source

Perhaps we could organize a list of drivers and riders. I'd be happy to drive if anyone needs a ride. I've got a '00 Altis, also with limited trunk space. I'm already on Ortigas Ave near Ever Gotesco so I'm already en route to Taytay.

It sounds like we may need someone with a truck/SUV to haul our stocks. Any volunteers for hauling? 🙂

So far we've got:

owyn
moji
beebeenator

Shall we confirm Sept 4 as the date? Also, let's set a time and/or meeting place. I'm free all day, but let's make it a morning trip to maximize our time.

Re: Taytay wood source

WOW,

Didn't expect such a great response. I will be coming from San Juan and will be bringing my townace pick-up. It has a 8 1/2 foot bed. If anybody plans on getting wood, we can load it up and bahala na kung saan dadalhin. I can take one guy with me and meet-up with you guys anywhere along ortigas avenue. I usually leave early in the morning about 7:00 a.m. Let's hope they have new stock!

No problemo Moj.
I don't expect to get a lot really- Timb's more candid than me- I don't have much extra either :p. And what I'd "need" maybe apron material for a workbench should be 6' long. Think i'll buy a few pieces that i don't have yet- saplungan, balayong- i don't have it here. Hmmm the lumber rack i made months back's a bit cramped already.
Sir Timb, sama ka na rin =).

So from ortigas, i take the destination should be about or less than an hour of driving?
