congrats Ben, but should have asked. the drill press we are using (me, Jay and I think Chisel) is Taiwan made and very good performing cost around 6.5K iirc.


didn't like the Johnson scrollsaw either, vibrates a lot. is the Jet ss variable speed?

The jet scroll saw is variable speed, i am actually surprised that it is.

I actually went on on a limb for the drill press and the scroll saw.

I got the drill press coz Mark, the owner/owner's son was a great bloke to talk to and plus the drill press is in orange... i am an orange freak... RIDGID!!! AHAHAHHA. I

The scroll saw. Well , i am an extremely impatient dude. thats about it 🙂

Also Panda should be selling Jet power tools at the lowest price. I have checked, I am sure Sonny knows how i check the prices hehe. Hence i didnt buy the thicknesser at Hans.

But i feel that Hans is able to deliver better product support. The technician in the "service" room in their store in shang mall is ALWAYS working on something and seems confident at his work.

my last block plane got drenched by the flood. Which i never used.. hmmm

I might mount this upright. Its a pain screwing miter joints. This MIGHT make it easier

I am not sure if there are aftermarket blades its a 12.5" blade. With two mounting holes only.

I havent tried running anything through it yet. I am HOPING it is self aligning like Workbench's thicknesser

I'd love to hear your comments on how hard is the blade on the Groz block plane.

I have this Stanley and frankly speaking I just got tired sharpening the blade cause it can't hold the edge long enough. No spare blades available too so I have to stop a task at hand in order to hone.

That AC-100 right angle vise is a good tool. I have used it for welding true 90 deg miters but have not tried it yet on wood.

Hey bee,

welcome to the club of of thickness planer owners. get ready for a mound of wood shavings, flying dust, noisy planers (especially with hardwood) and your wife yelling " Will you turn that thing off!! the baby needs to sleep!!" (he-he) Boy, you'll be shoving wood into that thing like there's no tomorrow. I went through that for about 3 days when I got mine about 12 yrs ago. When you run out of rough lumber, you'll most likely run the smooth wood through the planer just for the heck of it. Tamang-tama for the wood from my Taytay supplier. Imagine running yakal, saplungan, ipil, and molave through that. You might forget about your project.

Is the blade reversible? By the looks of it, it seems heftier than my blades. If the hole for the guide slots are elongated, then you might have to learn how to do some adjusting. You should have a guide with the planer then. Test it and give us some feedback soon!

congrats on the thicknesser Ben, Chisel has the same one for quite a while na, I believe he is a happy camper with this thicknesser. do start a thread dedicated to that make and model para people searching can find it easier.
and yes, you will enjoy wood whizzing by clean and leveled... remember, we are waiting for your review...

cant do. its only 6" wide. And i have bad news.

The cutter head is stuck. good thing it didnt fry the motor. it was the same problem we had in the store. But in the store we didnt run it we just rolled the cutter head to see.

I am returning this... sigh

hi bee thanks for the warning actually i wont be using it thin my wood (thicknessing?) will be using it to make the wood 90 degrees on two sides for jointing only, will it be able to handle wood as long as 30in? and can this cut in an angle? thanks in advance bee
