Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't those caster-wheeled stands just lessen the damping effect thus introduce more vibration than those without the wheels? I was in the assumption that the more you stablize the machine with the ground, the less it would vibrate.

that is correct to a point Jarod, putting wheels makes it mobile which is better for storing to a corner or place when not in use. vibration is reduced and stabilized by weight, SSs doesn't really vibrate so bad, it is just minimal, but that is enough to make scrollsaw work a hell. think of it as a sewing machine, vibration is similar to it too, but pointing that needle with a vibration would make it difficult unlike one that doesn't vibrate.

Re: Thsi is the scoll saw iam getting

having nothing to do in the hospital, i decided to use up the time and broswe scrollsawer.com as suggested by Timber.

its MIND BLOWING what a scroll saw can do! i am so excited! my problem now is i have too many new tools and i wanna use em all at once hahahaha. i guess its a good problem.

Timber, have you tried making a wooden clock? i am planning to make a small one with the scroll saw and eventually grab a bandsaw to make a large one 🙂

I could start giving some wooden clocks as a gift too. Esp. to my ninongs and ninangs and in laws. and name plates too... will serve as advertisement hahahah

Re: Thsi is the scoll saw iam getting

now you know Ben why I got hooked with wood. the funny thing (like I mentioned to Jay) is that there are very good, in fact women in that site are more proficient at scrollsaw work. particularly "intarsia" which requires tons of patience...
now you would understand too why I am so happy with this, my first intarsia work....

44 pcs of 4 different kinds of wood... not perfect yet, but I only need to practice to be good at it.

that Moji is a nice attachment, but there are better options like a file instead of a blade, will last longer and perform better than the sand paper...

Envy you guys. I doubt if I have patience enough to work on a scroll saw. 🙁

actually Jay, after learning how to use it, it becomes relaxing, unfortunately you don't get there without trying and practicing. the learning curve isn't too much a hurdle. just some simple tricks and approaches. plus if you don't have a bandsaw, this works fine for making shapes and patterns....

Checkout this site: http://woodgears.ca/ . There is a second site to this one that sells and e-book that shows how to naturally cut involute spur and helical gears. This is what I need those spiral scroll saw blades for.

Re: Thsi is the scoll saw iam getting

broke three or four scroll saw blades! weeeeeeeeeeeeee

I dont know why and i have not read up on scroll sawing basics.... zzzzzzzz scroll sawed through my baby's mobile. broke 3 pinned saws and one non-pinned. hmmmm.

I think this scroll saw vibrates a bit. But could still be improved me thinks

Re: Thsi is the scoll saw iam getting

question.

Would a CUT coping saw blade be used on a scroll saw? would it act pretty much like a non-pinned scroll saw blade?

I need to practice on it asap and i have three blades left which i expect to snap also

Re: Thsi is the scoll saw iam getting

Very difficult to do Bee. I know because I tried. The problem is the coping saw blade is longer. Hey but your saw takes pinless blades right? If so then just drive out the pin and it might just work. Mine requires a pin so this was not an option for me.
