Is snapping blades on the Scroll saw normal? Maybe aftermarket blades will do better.

I believe Timber thinks highly of these.

Re: Thsi is the scoll saw iam getting

coping saw blade are too thick for scrollsaw use imo, you should I highly recommend trying different kinds, types and sizes of ss blades. I believe two things that will make you break the blades, 1. very tight tension on the blade and 2. pressure feeding the material for a faster cut.
both of these can result to breaks (don't ask how I know this), practice Ben, practice is the cure for this. there are several options available locally with blades costing 35pesos a piece, buy different sizes and types (go pinless, they are much much thinner than the pinned type) and try them one by one. another tip to realize is that a ss blade will dull in about 30 minutes of continuous use, unfortunately that is a fact. so when cutting delicate pieces I switch blades every so often, on not so delicate cuts, I re-use the dull ones and made a secondary table, which raises the material to the unused blade portion...
I have a thread here about it, will edit when I find it...

So much study and practice needed and so little time. Are there ways and shortcuts to make the learning curve shorter or probably smoother in a way?

well the basics aren't really much of a learning curve, you just have to understand it. like for example, others find it easier to cut from left to right while others find more accuracy in the opposite direction, it is these things that make scrollsawing a pleasure once you can feel the cut. the most difficult thing to learn in my case was, letting the blade do the cut. I was alway eager to have the cut done... but with lots of blades and practice it can be achieved... so to make it short... keep practicing!!!

Re: Thsi is the scoll saw iam getting

so little time , just as JayL said hehehe

My scroll saw was the only too for INVESTMENT purpose hence i am more impatient with this one than the others (the Johnson jointer nga na replacement hindi ko pa pinapagana hahaha)

iba na talaga mindest pag daddy. Especially if the bank statement dont look good after ALL the investment for the mini-me. 🙂 hence this scroll saw can help me earn a little on the side.
