Bee, Did you get any sharpening stones for the Veritas? I've been wanting to get this honing jig for a long time now but haven't decided on the stones yet. Would it work with sand paper? The stones are expensive too.

Looking forward for the pics. Congrats bro. Always good to have new toys. 🙂

Where to order? I'll get one for my next box and is the camber kit necessary?

The stones will have to wait as I don't have a planned budget for these. Probably more expensive than the honing jig itself.

Thanks Moji.

The Veritas should be ok with sandpaper, you can get a locally 1000 grit waterstone for around 1k.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

You can get the honing guide from Lee Valley. The camber roller just makes it easier to hone blades with camber on them although you can still hone a camber without the roller. Also if your not the type to use camber on the blades then it would be useless.

Curious to know if the engineering squares are actually Soba ... what Panda sells, claimed to be made in India. They look the same.

Ill be using the scary sharp method on the sand paper, its cheaper and dont need to worry about the depression problem a stone has

Woodworking / Marking / Try Squares / Engineer's Squares

In comparison,
3" - P520
4" - P530
6" - P640
8" - P1,340
10" - P1,750
12" - P2,230

Just saw a review that also confirms that they are Soba.
