Re: Triton Routers

Thanks Doc V. You're right, another expense is in progress, buying the materials for the RT. I already bought the laminate and casters. I'm getting them one at a time. Next week I'll get the MDF. Right now I,m waiting for the surplus 3/4 plywood 4x8 I ordered at Php500.00 a piece.

Re: Triton Routers

Buti nga doc kuripot ako, kaya medyo nakakatipid pa ko kasi mahilig ako sa scrap at surplus, yung laminate nga lang ang di ako nakakuha ng surplus, even the casters I got from a junkshop:D.

Yup, I'm planning just one drawer for the bits, then make the other drawers for my other tools. If ever I get to have additional routers in the future, I'll just modify the drawers then:).

Re: Triton Routers

With Amazon UK, it would cost about the same (tax included) and get here much faster.
From now on, I will cross check all electrical purchases with UK!

Is that direct shipment by Amazon UK to PH, instead of through a UK or US forwarder? If so, what customs and other hassles/risks would this introduce.

The Triton router is normally eligible for free shipping within US when sold directly by Amazon, and has been as low as ~$165 for multiple significant periods of time. (Not just right now, apparently.) Whether or not you have to count the cost of a step down transformer is the next variable.

I was thinking about this too. 220 volts for power tools is a real advantage. 110 Volts is somehow very limiting specially for mobility between work sites.

Re: Triton Routers

Anyone ordered high value items from Amazon UK directly shipped to PH?

Who was the Designated Carrier? (No info on Help about this; will be known only after ordering.)

How close Import Fees Deposit to actual fees? What if actual fees are higher?

Pickup (where) or deliver?

How long did it take?

According to Help: Title and risk of loss for each item will transfer to the recipient of the shipment upon delivery to the Designated Carrier.
Doesn't sound good. Designated Carrier does not have a shred of responsibility for loss or damage.

In that case, I'm very lucky that I never had any problem with my Triton router order. I only paid for what was stated in the invoice and it arrived in my doorstep in less that 7days upon placing the order.:)

7 days are the keywords to watch. If one needs urgently and not available locally or priced ridiculously then we now have another route. Way to go bro.

I've had two transactions with amazon UK - march & april 2011. My first one a triton router. It arrived at my doorstep in 5 days via UPS (could have been earlier if it arrived on weekdays) The 2nd one was a dremel 4000 and some router accessories which I received in 4 days. I could have purchased some other items but not all items posted there can be shipped to the Philippines (anyway amazon will prompt the buyer if the item can be shipped or not in the selected destination).
There is another option: but this one is pretty slow, order online and ship to forex cargo in the LA (if purchased in US) or London (if purchased in UK) shipped via ocean. It will take between 4 to 6 weeks but of course the shipping charges will be lesser. The customs duties will also be included in the charges that will be forwarded via e-mail. An optional insurance fee of $5 /$100 (items from US) can be paid for added peace of mind. Just visit the forexworld website for some info.

Re: Triton Routers

Yes, Camv. I've been using Forexworld for years now (both US and UK) and have been very happy with both. Forex CA usd to ship in 4 weeks but, due to some vessel schedule changes, they are a bit slower now, but still arrives within 5 weeks for me in Antipolo.

Forex CA also consolidates. I'd usually buy a bunch of stuff and they wait until all my items arrive before packing them. Occasionally, I'd be informed if there's still some space in the box and they'd invite me to shop some more to optimize space utilization.

Forex CA and UK both have depots in Marikina but they claim to be unrelated. Forex UK is also known as UMac.

Re: Triton Routers

Great to have many options on shipping nowadays. World is truly global now ... including global warming and global environmental catastrophe.

There is:
Forwarder cheap and slow
Forwarder expensive and fast
Amazon fast
Now all that is missing is Amazon slow.

Speaking of Forex Marikina, another nice thing about Forex is that their size and weight limits are somewhat soft, i.e., no hard limits. Whatever can fit in container and be manhandled by a reasonable number of people. For example, I was able to send a long (17 ft) crate before. Their small trucks (below) could not deliver and neither could I cart it off from their warehouse as is, but they let me and even helped me break the crate down and take away the contents and crate wood. (This was the trigger for me to get the little Bosch 9.6 V nickel cadmium cordless drill/driver.)

Re: Triton Routers

Glad to know that Forex also have a shipping option for Amazon UK purchases. There were a few times when I could have used the services.

They do ship all my US purchases and I didn't have a problem with them in the last 3 or 4 years of dealing.

However since I purchased a lot of used / opened packages/ recons at ebay.com too I have somebody to check the stuff for me prior to sending to Forex.
