Bee one of co-workers just told me a few days ago he found a GMC router selling for P1800. If you like I'll ask where he saw it.

Re: whats a good VS plunge router ( for all around use)

the maxsell needs to be returned again. the original problem wasnt fixed... now the plunge lock is acting up and is actually abit of a danger 🙁

my wife gave me the good to go for the makita though! but will give it a few more night to ponder. its quite a small fortune 🙁

give it some thoughts.
is it worth buying a cheap one again?
do you mind waiting for your tool to be fixed in the middle of your project?
does poor construction that can cause danger be considered?
when saving money to buy cheap tools be considered a saving money?

we always say, cry once... close your eyes and bite the bullet.
I do know it costs a lot, but since you really like the craft go for it. I guarantee you that you will be happy with it... think of it as an investment, we all do.
don't get me wrong, I push for better tool selection and not higher costing ones. in the long run, these kind of tools cost less... very much less.
cheers

I have to agree with you Timber. Downtime and Danger is just not worth it. I will have a look at the hitachis before jumping on this one. Mayon's stuffs arent cheap... grrrr

i have another consideration for having a freehand plunge router and a dedcated one for the RT. Does the 3612 have a fixed base?

I had good luck with this Bosch router. It's not as muscular as a 3 1/4 but is cheaper.
