Re: A very simple Coffee Table
Hi Armand,
Sorry if I squeeze in my question here. I heard so much about that Chinawese table and how happy you are with it. I really need to get a TS but I cannot afford most of those mentioned here. But I need a TS that has a riving knife (RK). You kept on alluding to a splinter on your TS in another thread but you also mentioned that your splinter moves diagonally in reference to the blade when you make bevel cuts. If your splinter moves in relation to the blade, doesn't that make your splinter an RK afterall? Does your "splinter" lowers when you lower the blade?
Thanks in advance for your clarification.
PHM stirs!!
its like how closed do you keep your open mind?
read here: riving knife now, after reading the WHOLE description do you still think PHM stirs? or your open mind is just so closed?
just to make it easier, I will cut a portion of what a riving knife is supposed to be besides being mounted in the same place as the blade...
Riving knives
A riving knife differs from a simple splitter in some important ways:[7]
- It doesn't need to be removed from the saw when cross-cutting or doing a blind (non-through) cut as it doesn't extend above the top of the saw blade. If it isn't removed, the operator can't forget to put it back on.
- It sits closer to the back edge of the blade, making it much more effective - less space for the stock to shift into the path of the blade
- It provides some additional protection for the operator - blocking contact to the back edge of the blade - in those situations where the stock is being pulled from the outfeed side of the saw
- It's independent of (and won't interfere with) other blade guards and dust collectors
if you still can't get it, I guess... well no point for me to waste my time.
