we I have started thus project for a while now stopping every so often as it isn't high priority anyway... it will have two cabinets and a housing for the cpu.

nothing fancy, I just thought I will start using the Kreg joinery mostly on this project.
got the drawers assembled and installed, the side that belongs to SWMBO uses full extensions and my side uses one full extension and three regular slides.

today I start making the false fronts...

Re: computer desk

they are a waste of money bee, that is the stanley blue carpenter's tape bought in S&R. they stick where you need it less to stick and come loose when you need them to stick. wouldn't recommend them...

Re: computer desk

i see..been looking around forsome painter's blue tape but no success..is that carpenter's tape the same with painter's tape?

been using masking tape for quick glue ups and when painting false basebaords.sometime lucky (it peels without gum residue) and oftentimes not.

can you recommend a brand of masking tape that can be removed easily without leaving gummy residues?

thanks

Re: computer desk

There used to be 3 versions of them:
low adhesion (light blue), which I never found useful being too weak
medium adhesion (blue, picture #1 below, "14 day removal")
high adhesion (green, picture #2 below, "3 day removal")

Then they seemed to disappear from stores sometime around 2007-2009.
In 2009, I saw the automotive one (green, picture #3) pop up, but no more blue or green 3M painter's masking tape. Other brands yes, but 3M painter's gone. The automotive green is weaker than the painter's green.

Would like to know from 3M what happened.

Re: computer desk

after a long break from this project, I found time again to continue work on it. got the false face inatalled and was able to choose some nice simple handles.

the top has been halted for material choice and I decided to use some mahogany for the edges... from a 10' slab, I cut several pieces.

milled them to size and cut the profile such as the rabbets then dry fit.
