Re: MORRIS CHAIR, building a classic.

@jonathan,

i forgot to mention that your choice of upholstery material (wytex) is one of the best...the first upholstery adventure i had was in 1996..and the same material i used is still standing today..still very soft and pliable...if it were some cheap material, i could have hardened already, peeling and and cracking maybe.

happy birthday to the superultramaster swmbo!

a morris side table perhaps?

enjoy your chair muna siguro for a week before the next build.

oh i see, where can i find wytex ?

major, major thank you, thank you ! ! ! says the swmbo...

planning to build another, and a footstool, because your foot will look for something to hang-

up, but considering also the side or end table.

yes doc V, a week day-off of woodworking and taking a moment of enjoying the chair is the

way to do.

ngayon ko lang na realize docV, I read vytex on the fabric i used..

anyway, yes the fabric is very soft and pliable, making it comfortable upon lying down on it.

Just want to say that you did an amazing job. That chair is just gorgeous. Excellent craftsmanship. I'd call it a work of art. How I wish I had the cool tools and skills you have. The finish is just perfect. Very professional looking.

Re: MORRIS CHAIR, building a classic.

thanks kenneth...

credit goes also to this forum...and the master...

with very limited tools i got, i have to improvised some jigs for the job...

i bet you too can do this project, with long line of patience and continous dedication to woodworking...

from the time i finished the project, until , as of this moment

no serious project pa...enjoying muna the comfort of the chair...

tinamaan pa ako ng " katam"...:p 😉 😎

Re: MORRIS CHAIR, building a classic.

i'm making again a pair of pivot and support pins for my morris chair single seater.

and here's a much clearer wips in making the dowels. i'm going to make a 1" diameter dowel.

nilabas ko ulit yung RT plate, wala pa rin syang dedicated table...

started it with a 1" x 1" workpiece, and i used a 1/2 round over bit.

doing the passes on all corners...

Re: MORRIS CHAIR, building a classic.

Jon, that would be safer and more consistent if you left a piece on both sides na original size. I would also prefer doing it on the rt, just a preference but I think its safer as well...

i believe this is what master timber meant...

then cut it into two pieces...

Re: MORRIS CHAIR, building a classic.

then sanded the tip till it fits to the sample hole.

then i used a wood rasp file to remove some wood materials till it reach the desired diameter a vernier caliper will be of good use...

Re: MORRIS CHAIR, building a classic.

hi armand,

currently, i am in the first stage of the finishing process...staining.

next is sealing the stain and hopefully matapos ko itong project ko this weekend,

top coating with a poly...

mahirap bro, 2 project at a time ( a sofa and a single seater ) energy draining...

back seat upholstery pa pala....matagal pa.....:hammer:

what's up?
